Museum of Me Project

final pic.JPG

All of the work in this exhibition has been created during lockdown from August to October 2020 by children and young adults from The School of African Cultures, in partnership with PACHEDU Charity in Renfrewshire.

For 3 months all the children and young adults have been taking part in the ‘Museum of Me’ partnership project with the Creative Learning Team at Paisley Museum.

Over the course of the online digital project the children have been investigating Paisley Museum’s collections and exploring key historical figures including John Edmonstone, Mary Jane Seacole and Peter Burnet (known throughout Paisley as ‘Black Peter’) reflecting on their lives and identities using a variety of creative skills including poetry, music, dance and mixed media art techniques.

The core theme of identity within the 'Museum of Me' project, enabled the children to explore what it means to be African and Scottish living in Renfrewshire in 2020.

All their work during the project has culminated in this online exhibition showcased in October celebrating Black History Month.

We would also like to say a special thank you to all of the children and young adults for their dedication and hard work in creating this online exhibition over the past 3 months.

Congratulations and Well done to:
